The name WOLNA comes from the Slovene word volna, which means wool.
It is dedicated to my grandma Rozika and to her legacy, for being the best grandma and person I have ever known. Always willing to help anyone in need.
She was born on 7 August 1932 in Bukovci, a very small village near Ptuj in Slovenia. She later moved to Maribor with my grandpa Jožef and raised a family here.
Ever since I was born, my grandma has been my greatest support, and I owe everything to her. She taught me compassion and love.
We got the idea on a random Sunday, over pohano, the traditional Slovenian Sunday lunch, while we were talking about sewing and what we could make.
For over a year, we have been going to the sauna every week, because Jure has one in his basement. We ordered sauna hats online, but they were all poor quality. So babi Rozika, my girlfriend Ana, my two friends Simon and Jure and I decided to make our own.
The next step was logical. We came up with the patterns, babi Rozika sewed them together, and we had our first hat. What happens next, we do not know, but we will make it as good as we can.
We make a maximum of two hats a day. Babi Rozika is 94, and even though she loves to sew and help us, she also needs her rest. We ask everyone to respect that.
Luka
